Oxney Organic

Oxney Organic Estate is the largest single estate organic vineyard (35 acres) in the UK, owned and run by Kristin Syltevik. Down a tiny lane in Beckley, East Sussex - between Rye and Tenterden. Their vines sit on well-draining sand and silt loam, teeming with the microbial life essential to organic grape growing. The vineyard focuses on promoting natural disease resistance and vigour in the vines. Cover crops, natural sprays, careful canopy management and manual and mechanical weed control all result in stronger vines and healthier grapes. Hungry birds are kept at bay using a system of speakers in the vinyard playing predatory bird calls. The wines are made in a converted Grade II listed square oast house, kitted out in the latest winery equipment, where they favour wild ferments, no filtration and minimal use of SO2. They have won many awrds including Platinum and Best in Show at DWWA for their Chardonnay 2018.
