Greyfriars Vineyard

Greyfriars is located on the sunny south facing chalk slopes of the Hog’s Back at Puttenham,  just outside Guildford in Surrey. The original vineyard was planted in 1989 and since taking over in 2010 the Wagstaff family have expanded the area under vine to almost 50 acres on three sites focusing on producing stunning English Sparkling Wine. They have also built a brand new winery containing state of the art winemaking equipment and dug a natural chalk underground cellar for ageing wine prior to release.

The vineyards are predominantly planted with the three classic Champagne varieties; Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. However, they also have small plots of Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. They are producing a range of spectacular English Sparkling Wines reflecting the unique local soil conditions, climate and heritage of the Surrey North Downs. Their early releases of wine since 2011 have gained critical acclaim and have already won a number of prizes in international competitions including the Decanter World Wine Awards.
